Pembroke Dock sits on the south bank of the Milford Haven waterway at the mouth of the River Cleddau, close to Pembroke in Pembrokeshire, Wales. It was laid out in the early 19th century as a Royal Navy dockyard and later became an important flying‑boat and RAF base, so much of the town’s character and street plan reflects that military and maritime origin.
After the dockyard closed the local economy shifted towards light industry, ferry connections to Ireland and service sectors, while tourism and community heritage - seen at the Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre and other local landmarks - celebrate its naval and aviation past. The town retains a strong working‑class identity and has seen ongoing regeneration, with good transport links into the rest of Pembrokeshire and beyond.
