Stackpole and Castlemartin lie on the southern coastal fringe of Pembrokeshire in Wales, a landscape of rugged cliffs, sandy coves and wetland gardens. The area is most famous for the intimate sandy shore at Barafundle Bay, the atmospheric Bosherston Lily Ponds and miles of cliffs and headland along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, with much of the former estate land around Stackpole Estate managed for conservation and public access.
History and land use here are a patchwork: landscaped parkland and ruined manor buildings from the estate era sit alongside ancient earthworks and a still-active Ministry of Defence firing area at Castlemartin Range. Local life mixes farming and tourism, with visitors drawn by wildlife, walks and beaches while small communities retain a quiet, rural character shaped by conservation efforts and the military presence.
