Walwyn's Castle is a small, quiet parish on the northern slopes of the Preseli Hills in north Pembrokeshire, named for the visible earthworks of a medieval motte-and-bailey that sit above the scattered farms and lanes. The surrounding landscape of hedged fields, commons and low moorland gives fine views across the uplands and attracts walkers; the nearby Preseli Hills are also noted for their prehistoric remains and as the source of the bluestones used at Stonehenge.
Historically the settlement grew around the castle site and its church, with St Mary's Church retaining medieval fabric alongside later repairs. Agriculture remains the economic backbone, supplemented by a modest amount of holiday accommodation and visitors drawn by archaeology and rural tranquillity, while community life reflects the rhythms of a small Pembrokeshire parish.
