Treflys is a small, sparsely populated community in mid‑Wales, lying within the unitary authority of Powys. Set among rolling hills on the fringes of the Cambrian Mountains, it is characterised by scattered farms, quiet lanes and a patchwork of fields and woodland that make it attractive for walkers and wildlife enthusiasts.
Economically the area is largely agricultural, with sheep and cattle farming dominant, while a modest amount of holiday lets and outdoor recreation brings visitors in summer. Socially and culturally it retains a strong sense of local identity with chapels, a parish church and occasional community events, though services are limited and the population tends to be small and ageing, reflecting many rural parts of Wales.
