Marchwiel is a village and community a few miles south‑west of Wrexham in Wales, set amid farmland and small wooded areas beside the River Clywedog. It has a semi‑rural feel despite its closeness to the town, with local shops, a primary school and residential streets that make it popular with commuters to nearby centres.
The village grew up around the country estate of Marchwiel Hall, whose parkland now hosts a golf club and lends a distinctive country‑house character; there was also a local railway station that closed in the mid‑20th century. Community life is centred on the parish church and village hall, and economically the area is largely residential with most people working in Wrexham or further afield.
