Garden Suburb is a leafy, primarily residential ward in the north of the London Borough of Barnet, closely associated with the early 20th‑century planned community of Hampstead Garden Suburb. Laid out from 1907 with Garden City movement principles, it features broad, tree‑lined streets, communal green squares and a large conservation area containing many Arts and Crafts and early modern houses.
There’s a strong local identity, independent shops and notable local landmarks such as the distinctive church St Jude-on-the-Hill and the selective girls' school Henrietta Barnett School. Largely residential and relatively prosperous, the ward is popular with families and benefits from good bus and road links, and is within easy reach of Northern line stations such as Golders Green and East Finchley.
