Oxspring is a small village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley, South Yorkshire, set in the valley of the River Don on the western fringe of the Peak District. The parish is defined by its rural setting of moorland, reservoirs and stone-built housing, with good road links that make Sheffield and Huddersfield reachable for commuters.
Historically the settlement grew around water-powered mills and small-scale industry, and today it is a largely residential community with active local clubs, a village hall and popular riverside and reservoir walks. The mix of historic cottages, a parish church and surrounding countryside gives it a character that feels distinctly more rural than suburban despite its proximity to larger towns.
