Moorside is an electoral ward on the northern edge of Bury in the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester. Largely residential, it comprises a mix of terraces, semi‑detached houses and post‑war council estates with pockets of green space and playing fields; its name and slightly higher ground give occasional views towards the Pennines, marking a transition between urban and more open countryside.
Like much of the borough the area grew up around the industrial expansion of the 19th and early 20th centuries and has since become a primarily commuter and service‑sector community, with residents travelling by road and bus into Bury and Manchester. Local life is centred on neighbourhood shops, schools, churches and community centres, giving the ward a distinct local identity while relying on the wider amenities of the borough.
