Bollington is a compact former mill town in Cheshire East, England, tucked into the steep-sided valley of the River Dean at the foot of Kerridge Hill. Its most striking landmark is the white-painted folly known as White Nancy, perched above the town and popular with walkers heading towards the Peak District; the disused rail corridor nearby has become the recreational Middlewood Way, linking to other local trails.
Historically built on cotton and textile industry - with surviving buildings such as Clarence Mill - Bollington has repurposed many mills into offices, homes and galleries and supports a lively independent-shop and café scene, plus regular local festivals. It retains a strong community feel while functioning as a commuter-friendly base for nearby Macclesfield and Manchester, with a mix of tourism, small businesses and outdoor recreation forming the modern local economy.
