Callington is a small market town and civil parish in east Cornwall, sitting near the River Tamar and close to the Devon border. It nestles beneath the moorland outcrops of Caradon Hill and Kit Hill, and the scars of 19th‑century copper and tin mining - engine houses and spoil tips - remain part of the landscape, reflecting the parish’s important role in the Tamar Valley mining story.
Today the parish retains a traditional market‑town feel with a parish church, local shops, community events and light industry, supported by surrounding agricultural land. Many residents commute to nearby centres such as Plymouth, while walkers and heritage visitors are drawn to the lanes, mining remains and countryside around the town.
