The area sits on the south‑east coast of Cornwall around the western side of Looe and includes the villages of Pelynt, Lansallos and Lanteglos. Dramatic cliffs, secluded coves and the River Looe estuary meet rolling farmland; the South West Coast Path threads the coast and the local economy is a mix of tourism, small‑scale fishing and agriculture, with many people working in hospitality, holiday lets or commuting to nearby towns.
There’s a strong sense of local identity formed by medieval churches, fishing heritage and long‑running smuggling tales; stone cottages, village halls and traditional pubs remain focal points for community life. The area attracts walkers and coastal visitors, runs village fetes and conservation projects, and faces familiar rural issues such as seasonal employment and an ageing population alongside efforts to sustain vibrant village communities.
