Quintrell Downs is a small village in Cornwall, a few miles east of the surfing town of Newquay. Its name reflects the open, rolling "downs" of moorland around it, and the village sits on the approach to the north coast, offering quick access to beaches while still feeling distinctly rural.
Historically the area grew out of agriculture and some small‑scale quarrying, and later benefitted from improved road and rail links that turned it into a modest commuter and local‑service centre. Today it retains a tight‑knit community with a primary school, local shops and a pub, and it combines everyday village life with the tourist trade and surf culture of nearby Newquay.
