Camborne is a former mining town in west Cornwall, England, forming part of the compact Camborne-Redruth conurbation. It sits amid the rolling former mining landscape of the county and still shows the telltale engine houses and terraced streets that grew up around tin and copper extraction in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The town has a strong industrial and community identity: it was long associated with the Camborne School of Mines and lies within the broader Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage area, while more recently the local economy has shifted towards light industry, services and tourism with heritage attractions such as Heartlands nearby. Camborne also retains a lively social life, from a proud rugby tradition to music and local festivals that reflect its mining heritage and Cornish culture.
