The village of St Keverne sits on the eastern side of the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, occupying a largely rural parish that stretches from heathland and rare serpentine geology down to miles of rugged coast and sandy coves by the Helford River. The landscape is strikingly varied, with coastal habitats and low moorland neighbours such as Goonhilly Downs, whose distinctive satellite dishes are a familiar landmark on the horizon.
Historically the village is best known as the home of Michael An Gof, the blacksmith who co‑led the Cornish rising of 1497, and it still boasts a substantial medieval church and strong local traditions. Today the economy mixes agriculture, small‑scale fishing and tourism, with holiday cottages, campsites and craft businesses supporting a close‑knit community that values its Cornish heritage and natural environment.
