Withiel is a small, rural parish in mid-Cornwall, set a few miles to the east of Bodmin and within easy reach of Wadebridge. The landscape is typical of inland Cornwall: rolling farmland divided by hedgerows, quiet country lanes and small wooded combes that give a sense of seclusion and slow pace of life.
Historically the settlement has an old parish church and a number of listed farmhouses and stone features that point to medieval and post‑medieval roots; today the local economy is largely agricultural with some residents commuting to nearby towns and a modest rural tourism presence. Community life centres on village institutions and seasonal events, preserving local traditions while adapting to modern rural living.
