Littleover is a suburban area to the south‑west of Derby, originally a separate village that was absorbed into the city as residential expansion took place in the 20th century. It retains a compact village centre with older cottages and interwar housing, and benefits from ready access to nearby greenbelt and countryside while remaining well connected to the city.
Predominantly residential, the area supports local shops, pubs, schools and community clubs, and is known for an active local spirit shown by sports teams and village events. Many residents commute into Derby or further afield, giving the neighbourhood a steady, family‑orientated character alongside a sprinkling of historic buildings and conservation-minded local initiatives.
