Creswell is a small village in the district of Bolsover, Derbyshire, England, sitting close to the Derbyshire–Nottinghamshire border. Once a coal‑mining community, its streets and housing still reflect that industrial past while it has become a commuter and local service centre within easy reach of the Peak District.
The village is best known for nearby Creswell Crags, a dramatic limestone gorge with Palaeolithic caves that contain rare Ice Age rock art and a dedicated visitor centre, which brings archaeology and tourism to the area. Today Creswell mixes that tourist interest with a tight‑knit community feel and a largely post‑industrial economy, with many residents working in nearby towns such as Worksop or Sheffield.
