Old Bolsover is a compact civil parish at the heart of Bolsover in Derbyshire, England, centred on the historic core dominated by Bolsover Castle. The parish occupies a prominent ridge above the surrounding lowlands, giving the castle and older streets a strong sense of place and historic character.
The locality was shaped by the 17th‑century estate and later by the coal‑mining economy, and although pits have closed the community still carries that industrial heritage alongside small‑scale manufacturing, local services and commuting to nearby towns such as Chesterfield and Mansfield. Its position close to the eastern edge of the Peak District and the Pennines makes it attractive to visitors and locals interested in history, countryside walks and community events.
