Bonsall is a small village and civil parish in the Derbyshire Dales district of Derbyshire, England, set on a limestone plateau with sweeping views over the Derwent Valley and close to the southern edge of the Peak District. Historically it grew around lead mining and limestone quarrying and still shows that industrial past in old mine workings, stone cottages and a medieval parish church at its heart.
Today Bonsall is a quiet rural community sustained by farming, local services and tourism, popular with walkers and visitors exploring nearby towns like Matlock and the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage area. The village retains a strong community spirit, local pubs and a village hall, and continues to celebrate traditional Derbyshire customs such as well-dressing and seasonal local events.
