Stanton is a small, rural civil parish in the Derbyshire Dales district of Derbyshire, set on rolling limestone countryside on the fringes of the Peak District. It’s characterised by narrow lanes, drystone walls and pockets of limestone escarpment and woodland, popular with walkers and climbers who come for quiet scenery rather than heavy visitor infrastructure.
The local economy remains largely agricultural, with several working farms alongside a scattering of holiday lets, a village pub and small independent businesses; community events and outdoor pursuits form much of the social life. Traditional stone-built houses and a long farming heritage give the place a timeless feel, while nearby footpaths and dales bring a low-key tourism trade that helps sustain local services.
