Wembury is a small coastal village and civil parish on the south Devon coast in the district of South Hams, looking across Plymouth Sound. Its red sandstone cliffs, wide sandy Wembury Beach and rocky coves make it a popular spot for rockpooling, surfing and coastal walks; the stretch around Wembury Point sits within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is traversed by the South West Coast Path, while a local marine conservation designation and an on-site marine education centre help protect and interpret the rich shoreline wildlife.
Beyond tourism, the parish retains a mix of farming, small-scale fishing and a residential community many of whom commute into Plymouth. Historic touches such as the ancient parish church, St Werburgh's Church, earthworks and field patterns hint at a long-settled landscape, and a lively village life with school, volunteer conservation groups and seasonal events keeps the community active and engaged.
