Newton Ferrers is a compact, picture-postcard village in South Hams, Devon, England, sited on the eastern bank of the River Yealm estuary opposite Noss Mayo. The village is part of the wider South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is popular with sailors, kayakers and birdwatchers thanks to its tidal creek, quays and moorings, and a cluster of attractive stone and thatched houses that slope down to the water.
Historically the name recalls the medieval Ferrers family who held the manor, and the village retains many characterful listed buildings and a conservation-area feel. Today its economy leans on tourism, local services and some commuting into Plymouth, while a lively community life, pubs and easy access to coastal and estuary walks - including stretches of the South West Coast Path nearby - make it a popular spot for visitors and residents alike.
