Blandford Forum is a small market town and civil parish in Dorset, set on the banks of the River Stour. The centre is notable for its coherent Georgian architecture, largely rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1731, with a traditional market square, town hall and a local museum that traces the town’s social history.
Surrounded by Dorset chalk downland and rolling farmland, and close to the military base at Blandford Camp, the town functions as a local service and shopping hub with regular markets, festivals and an active community of independent traders and craftspeople. Its position makes it a handy base for exploring nearby countryside such as Cranborne Chase and the rural heart of north Dorset.
