Chickerell is a small town on the south coast of England, in the county of Dorset, immediately to the west of Weymouth. It sits close to the shingle ridge of Chesil Beach and the tidal Fleet Lagoon, which form part of the Jurassic Coast, so the area combines easy access to dramatic coastline with views over coastal lagoons and downland.
Once a modest agricultural and fishing community, Chickerell grew in the 20th century into a largely residential town with local industry and trading estates, serving commuters to nearby ports and towns. Today it offers a mix of village-style amenities, community groups and countryside walking on the fringes, making it a practical base for those wanting both coastal recreation and connections to wider Dorset centres.
