Rodwell and Wyke sit on the northern edge of Weymouth in Dorset, hugging the shores of Portland Harbour. The ward is mainly residential with a mix of Victorian and mid‑20th century housing, local shops and light industry, and is crossed by the popular Rodwell Trail, a coastal foot‑ and cycle‑path on a former railway embankment that gives fine views over the bay.
Historically the area has close maritime and quarrying links with nearby Portland and the commercial and naval activity of Weymouth, and community life centres on schools, pubs and village halls. Its coastal parks and paths make it a valued recreational spot for walkers, cyclists and birdwatchers, while many residents commute to Dorchester or other towns for work.
