Osmington sits on the south Dorset coast in Dorset, England, a short distance from the seaside town of Weymouth. It occupies rolling chalk downland overlooking the Jurassic Coast and includes the small coastal hamlet of Osmington Mills; the South West Coast Path runs nearby. A striking local landmark is the chalk hill figure, the Osmington White Horse, cut in 1808 in honour of King George III and restored on several occasions since.
Traditionally agricultural, the parish now mixes farming with tourism, holiday lets and commuters to nearby towns, and retains a strong village feel with lanes, cottages and community events. Its combination of historic rural architecture, coastal scenery and access for walkers makes it popular with visitors while remaining a quiet, close‑knit place outside the main season.
