Whatlington is a small rural village and civil parish in the district of Rother in East Sussex, England. It sits in rolling High Weald countryside a short distance inland from Hastings and near Battle, within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with narrow lanes, hedgerows and a mixed agricultural landscape.
Historically the settlement grew around farming and a medieval parish church, and it still retains a largely agricultural and residential character with timber‑framed cottages, smallholdings and equestrian activity; many residents commute to nearby towns using the A21. Village life is maintained by a village hall and a local pub, and the surrounding countryside is popular with walkers and riders, giving Whatlington a quietly strong community feel.
