Hailsham is a market town in the district of Wealden, East Sussex, England, sitting on the edge of the low-lying Pevensey Levels and surrounded by rolling Wealden countryside. It has a population of roughly 20,000 and lies on routes linking it with Eastbourne and Brighton, making it partly a local service centre and partly a commuter town.
Historically a market and agricultural hub with medieval origins, Hailsham still retains a busy market tradition, period buildings and an active community life; small shops, light industry and local services now underpin the economy, while nearby wetlands and farmland offer wildlife interest and countryside walks for residents and visitors.
