High Roding is a small, rural village and civil parish in the district of Uttlesford in Essex, England, and is one of the cluster of settlements collectively known as The Rodings. It sits amid typical north‑west Essex arable farmland and winding lanes; the headwaters of the River Roding lie in the wider area, giving the group of villages their collective name and a distinctly countryside character.
The village has an agricultural heritage stretching back to at least Domesday times and retains a mix of traditional cottages and more modern homes. Today farming still shapes the local economy while many residents commute to nearby towns, and the place has the small‑scale social life of a close‑knit parish with a village hall and occasional community events rather than tourist bustle.
