Nailsworth is a small town and civil parish in the Stroud district of Gloucestershire, on the western edge of the Cotswolds and a few miles south of Stroud. It sits in a narrow valley on the Nailsworth Stream, a tributary of the local rivers, and many of the old 19th‑century wool and cloth mills that once powered the town still line the waterways, now converted into homes, workshops and studios.
Today Nailsworth has a lively independent high street, artisan shops, cafés and a popular farmers' market, and has a reputation for an active community life centred on walking, outdoor pursuits and the arts. Its industrial heritage, scenic setting within reach of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and a strong local interest in sustainability and local produce give the town a distinctive cultural and social character.
