Yate is a town in South Gloucestershire, England, situated a short distance north‑east of Bristol. Once a small agricultural village with medieval roots, it grew rapidly from the 1960s with planned housing and industrial estates and now forms a close‑knit pair with neighbouring Chipping Sodbury.
Today Yate is largely a residential and commuter town with a busy shopping centre, business parks and good rail links (the station was reopened in 1989), while many locals also work in the wider aerospace and high‑tech cluster around Filton. It benefits from easy access to open countryside and the northern edge of the Cotswolds, combining suburban amenities with nearby green space and an active local community life.
