The civil parish of Whiteshill and Ruscombe sits on the high ground of the Cotswold Edge just south of Stroud in Gloucestershire, with rolling limestone countryside, stone cottages and commons that give long views across the Severn Vale towards the Forest of Dean. Much of the area falls within the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and a network of lanes and bridleways makes it popular with walkers and riders.
Historically agricultural, the parish today combines smallholdings and farms with cottage businesses and commuters working in nearby towns; local life is centred on a village hall, church and community activities that reflect a strong sense of place. The built environment and commons preserve a rural character while links with the creative and food scenes in Stroud mean there’s a lively, conservation-minded local culture alongside traditional farming.
