Hackney Wick is a ward in the London Borough of Hackney, set on the banks of the River Lea and immediately adjacent to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in East London. Its landscape is defined by canals, former industrial buildings and railway lines, with easy links into central London.
Once a gritty riverside manufacturing area, it became notable for artists' studios and a thriving independent creative scene clustered around converted warehouses and the neighbouring Fish Island; the 2012 Olympic regeneration has brought significant redevelopment, new riverside housing and rising property values, creating a mix of active cultural life alongside ongoing social and economic change.
