Netley is a small coastal village in the borough of Eastleigh, in Hampshire, England, sitting on the western shore of Southampton Water just east of Southampton. It has a mix of shoreline, parkland and residential streets, with a promenade and views across the water that make it popular for walkers and local sailors.
Netley’s most striking historic features are the picturesque ruin of Netley Abbey and the site of the former Royal Victoria Military Hospital, now the leafy Royal Victoria Country Park, which tell of its Victorian military and monastic past. Today the village is largely residential and commuter‑oriented but benefits from tourism, boating activity and regular community events connected to the park and waterfront.
