Hyde is a small village on the western edge of the New Forest in Hampshire, England, close to the market town of Fordingbridge. It sits among heathland, ancient woodland and common pasture, with the lanes, ponds and open forest that are typical of the national park landscape.
The area’s character has long been shaped by medieval forest law and ongoing commoning traditions - think New Forest ponies, grazing cattle and a strong conservation ethos. Today Hyde is largely residential with a mix of traditional cottages and newer homes, a local community oriented towards outdoor pursuits and tourism, and an economy linked to forestry, equine activities and nearby towns.
