Hacton is a suburban ward in the London Borough of Havering, on the eastern edge of Greater London. It is largely residential with a mix of inter‑war and post‑war housing, local parades of shops and community facilities, and reasonably direct road and rail links that make it popular with commuters into central London.
Historically the area was countryside until the 20th‑century suburban expansion, and today it sits close to riverside marshes and industrial frontage, giving a contrast between green open space and light industry. Its proximity to places such as the Rainham Marshes and the River Thames shapes local leisure and conservation interests, while the local economy mixes small businesses, services and commuter activity.
