Bridstow is a small rural parish in south Herefordshire, set close to the banks of the River Wye and within the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Its landscape is a mix of riverside meadows and wooded slopes, popular with walkers and paddlers, and it sits just a short drive from Ross-on-Wye, with wide views typical of the borderlands between counties.
Historically the name reflects the settlement’s association with a river crossing and the area contains a number of traditional farmsteads and older buildings that hint at its past. The local economy remains largely agricultural with an increasing contribution from tourism and commuters travelling to nearby Ross-on-Wye or Hereford, while village amenities and community groups help sustain a close-knit rural social life.
