Ware is a historic market town in East Hertfordshire, Hertfordshire, England, sitting on a loop of the River Lea about 20 miles north of London. It grew up as a riverside trading and malting centre, with cloth and brewing connections and old coaching inns such as the original Saracen's Head, famed for the Great Bed of Ware (now in the V&A).
Today Ware combines a compact historic centre and riverside towpaths with commuter links into London, regular local markets, independent shops and pubs, and converted maltings and warehouses. The town remains popular for boating on the navigation, pleasant riverside walks and a strong local community that keeps its market-town character despite modern pressures.
