Pirton is a small village and civil parish in North Hertfordshire, Hertfordshire, England, lying a few miles northwest of Hitchin. It occupies gently elevated countryside with hedged farmland and woodlands, and is crossed by several public footpaths that make it popular with walkers who appreciate its rural views and quiet lanes.
The village has medieval roots evident in its historic church and a number of characterful cottages, and retains an active community life with a village hall, local clubs and annual events. The local economy still includes farming and small businesses, but many residents commute to nearby towns or to London and Luton, which keeps Pirton a largely residential yet traditionally villagey place to live.
