Wheathampstead is a sizeable village and civil parish in the district of St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England, set on the north bank of the River Lea. The surrounding countryside and surviving ancient earthworks, notably the earthwork known locally as Devil's Dyke, point to significant Iron Age and Roman-period activity in the area and give the village a strong sense of deep history.
Today Wheathampstead combines a historic high street with many listed buildings and a Norman-era parish church such as St Helen's Church, alongside active community groups, pubs and independent shops. It is popular with commuters because of good road and rail connections to nearby towns and to London, while retaining a village feel and easy access to Hertfordshire countryside.
