West Hyde is a small village in the district of Three Rivers in Hertfordshire, lying on the edge of the Colne Valley greenbelt a few miles north‑west of Rickmansworth and Watford. Its setting mixes semi‑rural farmland, woodland and canal corridors associated with the Grand Union Canal and the River Colne, making it popular with walkers and cyclists while remaining within easy reach of the M25 and London.
Historically a cluster of farmsteads and cottages, the village still shows period buildings and a villagey feel even as many residents commute to nearby towns. Local life centres on small social venues and community groups, with employment often found in nearby business areas such as Maple Cross; the combination of green space, historic character and transport links is what defines West Hyde today.
