Collier Street is a small village and civil parish in the borough of Maidstone, in Kent, England, tucked into the wooded, rolling countryside of the Weald. The surrounding landscape of orchards, hop fields and mixed farmland is typical of Kent’s "Garden of England" character and gives the area a distinctly rural feel despite its reasonable road links to larger towns.
Historically the name hints at a past of charcoal burning and woodland trades, and agriculture - particularly fruit and hops - has long shaped the local economy. Today many residents commute to nearby centres while the village maintains a strong community spirit with local events, a village hall and the kind of quiet social life common to small Kentish parishes.
