Maidstone is a borough and local authority district in Kent, in the valley of the River Medway. centred on the county town of Maidstone itself, the district combines a busy market and retail centre with surrounding villages and farmland; the town has long been the administrative heart of Kent and retains a mix of medieval streets, a notable museum and riverside leisure.
