Farningham is a village and civil parish in the district of Sevenoaks, Kent, England, set in the Darent Valley on the banks of the River Darent at the foot of the North Downs. Its riverside setting and access to the Darent Valley Path make it popular with walkers and those seeking a rural feel within easy reach of London.
Historically the village grew around milling and other river‑based trades and today retains a mix of traditional cottages, converted mill buildings and more modern homes; a small range of local amenities and community events give it a village‑centred social life. While still largely residential and rural, many inhabitants commute to London using nearby rail links, and the area is valued for its landscape and conservation interest.
