Kemsley is an urban ward in the borough of Swale, in Kent, sitting just to the north of Sittingbourne. The area has a recognisable industrial heritage, having grown up around a large paper mill and the planned workers' village that accompanied it, so you can still see traces of that early 20th‑century workplace community alongside later housing and light industrial estates.
Geographically it lies on the edge of the north Kent marshes near the Swale estuary, giving a mix of semi‑rural surroundings, greenbelt and urban fringe. Today it is a mixed social area with local shops, schools and sports clubs, an economy that blends remaining manufacturing and distribution with many residents commuting to nearby towns and London, and a community identity rooted in its industrial past and village-style neighbourhoods.
