Murston is a ward in the borough of Swale in Kent, on the eastern edge of Sittingbourne, close to the tidal channels of Milton Creek and the mudflats that feed into the Swale estuary. The mix of reclaimed marsh, industrial frontage and suburban streets gives the area a distinctive shoreline character and pockets of open habitat valued by birdwatchers and walkers.
Historically the neighbourhood developed alongside maritime and light-industrial activity connected with Sittingbourne’s paper and brick-making past; today it is a blend of residential estates, small industry and local shops, with many residents commuting to London and neighbouring towns via the A2 and Sittingbourne railway station. Local community facilities and regeneration projects sit alongside estuarine nature reserves, so Murston combines working‑place roots with accessible green space.
