Newington is a small village and civil parish in the borough of Swale, in Kent, England, sited beside the A2 (Watling Street) a few miles west of Sittingbourne and within easy reach of the Medway towns. Its position on the old Roman road and in a largely agricultural landscape gives the village a long-established feel, with historic buildings clustered around a parish church and village centre.
Today Newington combines rural character with good road and rail links - commuters travel easily to Sittingbourne and London - while the local economy and social life are shaped by nearby industry and ports on the Swale and by farming and small local businesses. Visitors and residents appreciate the village’s mix of Kentish vernacular architecture, quiet lanes and proximity to estuarial and countryside walks.
