Rodmersham is a small village and civil parish in the Swale district of Kent, England, sitting on the chalky, rolling countryside a few miles south of Sittingbourne and close to Teynham. The area looks out over orchards and former hop fields toward the North Kent marshes and the Thames Estuary, giving it a pleasantly rural character despite good road links to larger towns.
The heart of the community is around Rodmersham Green, where thatched cottages, a village pond and a small medieval church dedicated to St Nicholas reflect the parish’s long history; a nearby manor house, Rodmersham Court, also marks its past gentry connections. Historically dominated by fruit-growing and hops, the local economy now mixes agriculture with residents who commute to nearby employment centres, while a compact village life and conservation interest preserve much of its historic charm.
