Adlington is a compact market town in the borough of Chorley, Lancashire, England, sitting on the edge of the rolling countryside that leads up to the West Pennine Moors. It enjoys quick road links via the M61 and rail connections at Adlington station on the Manchester–Preston line, and is handy for outdoor spots such as Rivington and reservoirs popular with walkers and cyclists.
Historically the town grew through the mills and coal workings of the Industrial Revolution, and you still see Victorian terraces alongside modern housing. Today it feels very much a friendly commuter community with local shops, pubs and schools, while nearby moorland and reservoirs give it a countryside appeal that contrasts with its industrial past.
