Blackrod is a small town and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton, in Greater Manchester, England, historically part of Lancashire. It sits on the southern edge of the West Pennine Moors near Winter Hill, giving the area a semi-rural feel while remaining close to larger urban centres.
Historically the settlement expanded with coal mining and textile activity in the Industrial Revolution, but today it is largely residential with a village atmosphere, local shops, clubs and green spaces. Good rail links via Blackrod railway station provide regular services to Bolton and Manchester, making it popular with commuters who value its quieter, community-oriented character and pockets of historic architecture.
